oh, little cowgirl

i got to help the guys for the first time in awhile, & there was a little girl about 10 (a little older then what i was when i started out!). so i started reminiscing about when i was ‘young’ & that little girl reminded me so much of what i was! so this is to all the ‘little cowgirls’ out there!

oh, little cowgirl. you try so hard, you just want your dads ‘approval’ & a ‘good job’ but you don’t want to hear him say it, you just want to know that you have it. you’re quiet, but only sometimes, once you warm up you talk non-stop, & sometimes you worry you talk too much but you love talking to the guys, because finally!! you finally found someone to talk to who understands where you come from, & someone you enjoy talking too! don’t worry little cowgirl, they enjoy talking to you just as much!!;) if you’re anything like me you strongly dislike early mornings, but a early morning to help the guys is no problem!! they will soon start to be like your dad, giving tips & always there for you. now if they’re anything like ‘my guys’ they’ll constantly give you a hard time & it slightly drives you crazy, but deep down you like it. & just know they do it because they like you, if they didn’t like you they wouldn’t give you hard time! you’re constantly doing your best at everything, & put 100% into everything, but sometimes you fail, sometimes you screw up, & sometimes you just flat out have a bad day. you’re dad is going to be upset, & inside you just feel terrible, you feel like you’ve failed, & that you’ve let your dad down, & the guys. but little cowgirl, you didn’t. we all screw up. we all fail. & we ALL have bad days. don’t let it hang over your head. pick yourself up & get straight back to work, that’s a true cowgirl. now i see the tears in your eyes, wanting to cry, & i know it’s not tears of weakness, it’s tears of disappointment in yourself, the fact you let your dad & your guys down, but YOU DIDN’T. one thing i know about my guys is they have a forgiving heart, & couldn’t EVER be mad at you for long, i mean you are there ‘little cowgirl. so don’t cry, cowgirls don’t cry!;) your dad is going to say words that cut you like knives but it’s outta love, & at the end of the day you’ll be back to best friends. oh, little cowgirl you are loved, & you are the guy’s little girl. please don’t be afraid to give all there crap right back to them, & just be your little ball of spit fire self. i love watching you work, & grow. enjoy the day’s of your dad coaching you & walking you through everything, they won’t last long. one day you’re going to miss those days. oh, little cowgirl. you are one special girl.

my family.

oh how i love the place i’m bein raised! <3

recently, a mom and her two girls were in a horrible and scary car accident. each of them have broken bones, are scuffed up and i can only imagine how it mentally affected them. our community has come together to help this family with bills, work, food, and just caring. sometimes i wonder, like if there’s still caring people out there, you know? is there people who have hearts. well i’m here to tell you, there is in greenwood county. we may not always get along, we have our disagreements. but when it comes to our people we all pull together for our community. but the story i wanted to share and why i share with you about this family, is because i experienced it and was in awe, it’s something little but yet so big. our local mexican restaurant (best mexican out there!) has held two fundraisers, just as many businesses and restaurants have. but as me and my sister were waiting for our tacos in this little restaurant that was PACKED full of people all waiting on there dollar tacos to support this family, the restaurant would get a call for an order of tacos. the person in line waiting to order, as the guy got off the phone would say ‘i’ll get those!’. and so then another person would call and then another guy would say ‘i’ll get those!’ and that’d keep happening. you know what it was like to experience that first hand, to see the love and care in our community. i guess you might say we aren’t just a community but a family. i don’t want to take away the attention from this family cause they deserve it all right now. but i’ve also experienced the love of this community on the receiving side. about 4 years ago our family had a house fire and we were unable to save anything. but our ‘family’ (our community) pulled through and helped us out tremendously and it was a blessing and unbelievable the love and support me and my family had in that stage of our life. our community has also gone through not one, but two, tornadoes that have put a toll on our town. but once again, our ‘family’ comes together and we work TOGETHER and mend together the town. delivering water bottles, clearing streets, picking up branches, making food, and so much more. our community came together to help each other. it was a hard time and there was fear of what was to come and tears of sadness as people just lost everything, there was also smiles of working together, joy that we are still alive. our community has been through a lot. but we always come out stronger in the end. just like every family we all have our differences, but we always come to together in the end. i’m blessed to call this place my home. and to see first hand what we are capable of. it truly is a blessing.

Home!❤️

I’ve heard several times “Kansas is a fly over state” or “Kansas can be taken off the map and you would not even know!” Whoa! Ummm first of all Kansas is NOT a fly over state. It’s a beautiful state with so much history, pride and beauty. Second, Kansas can not be taken off the map, without Kansas you wouldn’t have the beautiful tall grass prairie which may I add there is only FOUR PERCENT left!!! Kansas is a breathtaking, relaxing, eye appealing, leave you without words state. No, it’s not like Montana with beautiful mountains, or Florida with breath taking ocean views. It’s not cold weather like Wisconsin or hot like Texas. No, Kansas likes to switch hot and cold every week, you never know what you’re going to get. But, Kansas takes your breath away. You can just breath. Take in the fresh air and relax, think, breathe and admire the beauty. Kansas has sooooo much meaning, life, and history. Kansas is home to many, many people and home to many, many cows. Home to sunflowers, the bald eagle, the box turtle, oh and home to the oh so loved tall grass prairie. Kansas isn’t the flat lands or the mountains, it’s hills you can see for miles and miles and it takes your breath away (well at least mine!)! Kansas is my home, my brother’s home, my sister’s home, my parent’s home, my friend’s home, my family’s home, it’s home!❤️ Kansas isn’t for everyone, but it’s for some.

this is to you

this is to the person struggling to get friends. this is to the person trying to find there place. this is to you.

i’ve been where you’re at. yep, no friends, finding my place. the constant feeling of being left out or degraded. been there done that, and it was NOT fun. i’ve come a long ways from where i was. and still have some to come. it’s ok to not have all the friends. its ok not to be popular. and its ok that you haven’t found your '‘place” yet. its all ok. but lets get something straight i said it was ok to be in this place, but its not ok to stay in this place. to just give up and quit trying. that is not ok. YOU DO NOT GIVE UP. not popular, no friends, haven’t found your candy yet? i dont care. it is NOT ok to give up and quit trying. it’s ok to be in this place for a little while but you can’t feel sorry for yourself. you have to pick your life back up and keep going. i quit. i quit trying. i quit wanting to be friends. wanting to find my candy. i just quit. and that was not good. please don’t make that mistake. keep trying. don’t act like you’re better then everyone else. go make friends and try to find your passion, even if it’s different, keep trying. you’re going to get knocked down SO many times. but get back up and keep trying. you’re going to struggle, fall down you might scrape your knees, break some bones and see some blood, but that just gives even more reasons to keep going.

when you’re about to give up. when you’re about done that’s when you have to keep going. that’s when your put to the test to see how tough you really are and see how strong you are. there are going to be mean girls and boys. there are going to be times you want to quit. heck there are times i want to quit. but you can’t. you have to be strong and stand up for yourself. just remember when you stand up for yourself not to act like the person you’re standing up too.

this is to you.

Its been awhile

It’s been a hot New York minute since I’ve wrote…. well actually I’ve been writing but haven’t posted anything. I’ve been thinking a lot about this website, my Instagram page and my photos. And the question that keeps repeating itself is “Where is this going?” and I still don’t have an answer. Sometimes I think that people don’t care what I have to say, or what I write. I’ve come pretty close to “quitting” but then came then inspiring post on social media. It was a video about quitting and how everyone goes through a time where they want to quit, but the winners don’t quit they keep going. And Oh. Man. That hit hard. I was like “You are talking to me.” Straight to me. But I’m still not posting any of the things I was writing. Truthfully I’ve had a hard time finding what to say. Because I sure don’t want this to be just another tab open, filling up storage. I want this to be meaningful, true, heart to heart. Something you are constantly checking for the next post. It’s not from the lack of encouragement that I don’t know what to write because I get a lot of that, thankfully. And I love writing these little blog posts. I also enjoy taking photos and capturing the beauty of the Flint Hills. So what is it? Well i still don’t know what it is. But i’m going to figure it out and start posting more and figure it out as i go!

The 4th

Watching the fireworks light up the sky with beautiful colors and a KA-BOOM with every shot into the air. It’s so beautiful and only happens once a year in the U.S. of A. I was sitting and watching those fireworks light up the sky, holding my dog tightly cause with every BOOM he shook and I’m pretty sure his heart rate went racing up with every BOOM! Lol! But my dad brought it to my attention and said “you know it’s kinda sad that in other countries that this is normal. That a bomb going off is normal, and shots lighting up in the sky are normal. And yet here in the U.S.A it’s a once a year thing. It’s cool. And fun!” I’m not saying that you shouldn’t shoot fireworks or that you can’t enjoy the 4th, but I’m saying to remember that freedom isn’t free and that we are extremely lucky to live in a place where that isn’t normal! I sure am thankful for a place like the good ol’U.S of A! So go out and enjoy the rest of the weekend and leave it with a big KA-BOOM and lights in the sky!

Working Calves

So I guess I should probably explain what working calves means, because I say it a lot! Well, it can mean a lot of things actually! But I’ll just tell you the “basics”!

When we work calves 7 out of 10 times it means working baby calves by giving them a shot to prevent or cure nasty diseases. We also give them a shot of fly prevention on their back, some fresh earrings (ear tags), and the boys get cut! We do this to help keep our calves stay healthy, just like you give your kids shots, or essential oils, this is our way of taking care of these wonderful creatures! Something else working calves can mean is, re-working our babies to get ready to leave their mommas. We give them another shot of fly prevention on the back and sometimes a shot to help them adjust to something you adults like to call “real life”! We take care of our cows like they are our kids and do our best to care for them! If you have any questions, please don’t be afraid to ask!

Discovery Days

Well I have to admit that on my way to Discovery Days my nerves started kicking in a little. AND then anxiety really hit when I first had to find my way through the K-State campus. Oh Boy!!! But all was good (if you’re a good map reader, which I found out I’m not too bad of one!)! When we got to Manhattan, we settled in to our dorm room and then went downstairs and ate CALL HALL ICE CREAM..... Mmmmmmm!!

For my first class I chose 48 hours of 4-H, and it was so much FUN. We played games and did a hands on project. I can’t wait to take back what I learned to my 4-H club and come up with a AWESOME project! Next was dinner and a dance and it was so much FUN!!

The next morning we had breakfast in the dorm cafeteria and then off to my first class of the day - the Chopped Food Challenge, which, let me add is on the other side of the campus! But it was fun and worth the walk! Came back, ate and headed to my last class of the day - Fashion FUNdamentals. We went to the shopping mall, decorated a window display and put together 2 outfits at the Buckle! On our way back to campus our awesome driver kindly drove us to Clovia where we got to tour the Clovia house! Came back to campus, ate and went to another dance, which Thursdays dance  was so good! Now I’m laying in bed it’s 11:04pm on Thursday night, and my legs HURT from all that walking, dancing, walking, dancing, walking, dancing.... oh and did I say walking and dancing!? Now that it’s all come to end and I’m looking back at the pictures and memories I made...... Trying to find the perfect word to sum up this short, but sweet trip to KSU, and what comes to mind is.... 4-H! This is 4-H. It’s so much fun to be around other kids that are just like you, and yet totally different, meeting new people and laughing was so fun. 4-H might not be my “candy” right now, but has played a huge role in my life! So I hope you enjoy the few pictures I snapped this weekend, and reading how my trip went! Thanks!

Finding your candy

Kind of like everyone’s favorite candy, everyone has their passion. Their “thing”. Well my favorite  candy is hands down Skittles!!! I prefer the red ones but I’ll eat ‘em all! My “thing” is rodeo, I prefer to win, but I’ll take what I get. Sometimes it’s hard to decide what your favorite candy is, just like sometimes it’s hard to find your passion. It took me what seemed FOREVER to find something I truly enjoyed, something that if I did it everyday I would still LOVE it! I settled for Snickers, Tootsie Rolls, M&M’s, and Twix. But then I found Skittles and that was it, no matter how many I ate I still LOVED them. So what I’m trying to say is…don’t settle for something you don’t like. Don’t settle for Twix, Tootsie Rolls, Hershey’s , or Snickers. Settle for something that you could eat everyday and still LOVE it! Find your Skittles, and go for it. It might seem hard at first to find something that you LOVE, but once you do it, it will be well worth it! ‘Cause once you find that candy, you just know.

P.S. I still like most all candies, but Skittles are definitely my FAVORITE!❤️

Rodeo shenanigans!

Memorial Day

Today was spent with family. Laughs, smiles, loooonnnngggg stories, bronc riding, muddy faces, 4-wheeler rides, sun burns, tea parties, soccer, hamburgers, and homeade ice cream filled the day. Sadly we were missing 2 cousins, but everyone else was accounted for! It was a great day with family. But I want you to remember the real reason for this “holiday”. For the fallen, the ones who died to protect this country! As it’s nice to be with family and have a good time. Let’s remember the real reason for this holiday!
